Alpha Delta Lambda was established at Memphis, Tennessee, on June 5, 1930. The brothers who were in Memphis were called to a meeting and Brother T. H. Hayes, Jr., was sent to the Atlantic Convention to present a petition for the chapter. This permission was granted by the Convention on the recommendation of Brother Charles W. Greene, Southern Vice-President. Brother Frederick N. Weathers, was authorized to set up the chapter for the General Organization. The chapter members were Samuel T. Washington, W. P. Atkins, B. T. Johnson, J. L. Brinkley, Edwin C. Jones, Frederick N. Weathers, J. S. Melbane, H. C. Latham, and Thomas H. Hayes, Jr. Within a few months the chapter had grown from 10 to 28 active members.
